Chennai: Alleging that the DMK is not functioning like a real Opposition party in taking up people’s issues but was rather keen on staging walkout from state Assembly, the state unit of the BJP has claimed that only the BJP is capable of playing the role of a constructive Opposition party in the state. “The DMK has legislators but the leader of the Opposition M.K. Stalin leads walkout from the Assembly. We lack MLAs. If our voice is heard in the Assembly our MLAs would serve as bridge between the Centre and the people,” claimed Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan, BJP state president.
Speaking to reporters here on Thursday she said her party decided to contest the November 19 election to emerge as an alternate force in the state. “We can function as a healthy Opposition party serving as bridge between the people and the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s good schemes. We are capable of providing good and transparent administration,” she said.
Referring to the demolition of the 11-storied building at Moulivakkam here, she said that this was a grim reminder of what encroachment and corruption could do. “This should be the last structure that has disappeared, sadly with it the dreams of 61 persons who wanted to buy houses too has vanished,” she added.
