Bengaluru: KR Puram-Silk Board metro project report ready
Bengaluru: A Namma Metro link between Silk Board Junction and K.R. Puram inched closer to implementation with the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation readying to submit a detailed project report (DPR) to the government on Friday. Metro officials said the DPR is likely to be taken up for discussion at the next cabinet meeting. Principal secretary to the chief minister, LK Atheeq tweeted on Sunday, “BMRC has submitted DPR for phase IIA to the government.” In another tweet, Atheeq stated, “Will start phase IIA soon along the ORR from Silk Board to K.R. Puram. We will disclose further information and details of the project, following approvals from the state government and the Centre,” said a BMRC official. The project will be funded by the state and Union governments.
“They have agreed on the financial outlay of the proposal. The announcement of the project will follow due procedure,” the official added. In acknowledgement of the demand for a Metro link along Outer Ring Road, the state government recently announced a modification in the design of the second phase of Namma Metro to accommodate the proposed 18 km new line between K.R. Puram and Silk Board.
