Hyderabad: The Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed a plea filed by TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy in the cash for vote case seeking to allow cross-examination all the witnesses, including the de facto complainant at a time, instead of the various various dates fixed by the ACB court.
Revanth Reddy said that based on the cross-examination, the other persons would try to change their replies.
The ACB had rejected his request in 2021. Revanth Reddy then approached the Telangana High Court on May 11, 2021, which was not inclined to pass orders and directed the trial court to fix a cross-examination schedule and provide it to Revanth Reddy. The matter lay pending in the High Court.
Challenging the same, Revanth Reddy approached the Supreme Court, which had stayed the lower court proceedings. On Tuesday, a bench of Justice Sanjiy Khanna and Justice S.V.N. Bhatti dismissed Revanth Reddy’s petition and said the Telangana High Court decide the matter. The ACB court may now re-commence the trial.
