Home department clears CBI interrogation of D K Shivakumar

The sources said the CBI is waiting for the ED interrogation of Shivakumar to conclude before they pick him up for interrogation.

Bengaluru: Even as all attention was focused on the Enforcement Directorate's interrogation of former Congress minister D.K. Shivakumar and his brother D.K. Suresh, the state government has quietly given the green signal to the CBI to probe the Kanakapura MLA in the disproportionate asset case.

After the ED wrote to the CBI seeking a probe into the assets amassed by Shivakumar and his connections with a hawala operator in Singapore, the CBI sent a requisition to the state home ministry, which was approved. During the last hearing of Mr Shivakumar's bail petition on September 18, the ED had stated that there was need for a CBI inquiry into the assets and financial transactions of Shivakumar. Such proposals are usually brought to the notice of the state cabinet but in this case, the state home department gave its consent on its own, said sources.
