Hyderabad: Btech, Pharma students stage protest
Hyderabad: As many as 200 BTech and Pharmacy students from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (JNTUH) held a protest in association with National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) on Wednesday.
Annoyed students of the university blocked the roads and around 100 of them were picked by the Kukatpally police. The students were later released by evening.
The students had demanded advanced supplementary exams for B Pharmacy and B Tech for R15 (Regulations-2015 batch) and R16 (Regulations-2016 batch). The students stated that other universities like JNTUH Anantapur and Kakinada are promoting second year and third year students with just 50 per cent credits but JNTUH is only promoting students who have 60 per cent credits. There is no detention system in other universities alleged the students.
N. Nitin, a student who participated in the protest said, “We want the university to promote second year and third year students with 50 per cent credits instead of detaining students with 60 per cent credits. We demand that same rules of promotion credits be applied for R15 and R16. Right now the promotion for R15 batch is 63. The university is not conducting supplementary examinations due to which many students are suffering.”
