SUV accident: Geetha Vishnu surrenders before CCB
Bengaluru: Geetha Vishnu, the grandson of liquor baron and former MP late D.K. Adikesavulu, who had escaped from Mallya Hospital while in police custody, surrendered before the Central Crime Branch (CCB) on Tuesday.
Vishna, who was driving a high-end SUV, had crashed into an Omni van near South End Circle on September 27 and later, the police had also found 110 gms of marijuana in his vehicle.
Vishnu, after being arrested by the Jayanagar police, had escaped from Mallya Hospital on Friday where he was undergoing treatment for minor injuries. While the four teams formed to trace him could not get any clue on his whereabouts, the accused surrendered within hours of the case being transferred to the CCB.
Joint Commissioner of Police (crime) Satish Kumar said that Vishnu surrendered before ACP CCB on Tuesday evening, probably after the hearing on his bail plea was postponed.
The CCB sleuths are interrogating Vishnu and will produce him before court on Wednesday. The CCB will seek Vishnu's custody for further investigation, a CCB source said.
Vishnu's brother-in-law Rajesh Naidu was arrested by the Jayanagar police on Sunday for helping Vishnu escape from the hospital and later arranging a car for Vishnu to leave the city. On Tuesday, the police also had issued summons to six people, including Vishnu's brother Adi Narayan and veteran actor Devaraj's son Pranam Devaraj.
