Polavaram will get all help: Nitin Gadkari

A 315-km long waterway will be developed at a total cost of Rs 7,015 crore.

Vijayawada: Nitin Gadkari, the Union minister for water resources, waterways, highways, shipping and road transport, said that the Union government would extend all the necessary assistance to the state for the completion of the Polavaram Irrigation Project before the 2019 general elections.

The minister laid the foundation stones for several national highway (NH) projects in the state and inaugurated several others along with Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. Seven NH projects were inaugurated and dedicated to the nation on Tuesday. The foundation stones for six NH projects with a total cost of Rs 4,153 crore were laid in the state. The foundation stone for the Kakinada-Puducherry waterway was also laid by the Minister. A 315-km long waterway will be developed at a total cost of Rs 7,015 crore. In the first phase of works, the stretch between Muktayala and Vijayawada will be developed.
