Madras High Court grants anticipatory bail to Senthil Balaji

Based on false complaints the cops made frantic efforts to arrest him.

Chennai: The Madras high court has granted anticipatory bail to V. Senthil Balaji, former transport minister and a disqualified MLA from TTV Dhinakaran group, who feared arrest in connection with an alleged job racket.

Justice N. Authinathan, before whom his anticipatory bail petition came up for hearing on Tuesday, granted anticipatory bail and directed him to appear before the investigating officer, Central Crime Branch, at 9 am everyday for two weeks.

In the petition, Senthil Balaji stated that Ganesh Kumar, a employee of Government Transport Corporation, Chennai, appeared to have lodged a complaint on December 26, 2016. On his complaint, the Madras high court on September 8, directed the CCB to file FIR if cognizable offence is made out. Based on this, FIR was registered against Senthil Balaji and three others on September 9.

The present government perceives that he was against the government and Speaker disqualified him and 17 other MLAs. The government seeks to wreck vengeance against me, he said.

Ganesh accused him of collecting '95 lakh for providing employment opportunities to 16 persons in the transport corporation. Ganesh deliberately implicated him in the offence.

He said “Ganesh gave the false complaint about 23 months ago and I was not holding the post as minister from July 29, 2015”. Based on false complaints the cops made frantic efforts to arrest him.
