Hyderabad rains: Wall collapses at Keshav college
HYDERABAD: Heavy rainfall led to the collapse of a compound wall in Keshav Memorial Degree College on Monday. There were no causalities, however.
Dr Nageshwar Rao, principal of the college, said, “The wall, which collapsed on Monday, is over 75 years old and we had requested the GHMC to demolish it. It is the compound wall between the college and a residential area. Thankfully, the incident happened in the early hours of the morning and there were hardly any students.”
Although schools remained closed due to the Dasara vacations, most government colleges functioned with poor attendance as students were stuck in traffic due to water-logging. Sr Christine Fernandes, principal of St Francis College, said, “As we did not receive an official notification from the government and did not suspend our classes.”
Osmania University declared a holiday on Tuesday and postponed the internal exams. Other universities such as EFLU, MANUU and UoH were functioning.
