Hyderabad police steps in to help the rain-hit

On Tuesday, police officers offered food to people who were stuck in rain-affected parts of the city.

Hyderabad: Police personnel across the city were put on high alert after the downpour on Monday night. The 15,000 personnel of the Hyderabad Police, including members of the traffic wing, the law and order wing, the special branch and the task force were advised by Commissioner M. Mahender Reddy to assist officials of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and the Revenue Department in their efforts to maintain normalcy in the city.

Members of the special branch identified waterlogged stretches, dilapidated structures and trees that needed felling, while members of the law and order and traffic wings cleared traffic jams with help from GHMC teams.

On Tuesday, police officers offered food to people who were stuck in rain-affected parts of the city. The Rajendranagar Police organised a community lunch for the public.

In Rachakonda, police personnel swung into action to assist people in areas such as Malkajgiri, Kushaiguda and Uppal. Traffic police were seen standing in knee-deep water, regulating the traffic.
