AP Winter Session at Velagapudi
Vijayawada: Assembly Speaker Dr Kodela Sivaprasada Rao has said the Winter Session will be convened at the Velagapudi temporary secretariat premises. The Speaker — along with Deputy Speaker Mandali Buddhaprasad, council chairman A. Chakrapani, vice-chairman Sateesh Reddy, finance minister Yanam-ala Ramakrishnudu and Tadikonda MLA Tenali Sravan Kumar — visited the construction site for the proposed Assembly and Council hall buildings in the 6th block of the temporary secretariat premises on Monday. He expressed the hope that the construction will be completed before December 15.
The Speaker said the chambers of the Spea-ker, Deputy Speaker, floor leader, Opposition leader, chief whip and whips, ministers’ chambers, canteen and library will be located in 6th block. The Speaker and his team provided some suggestions to the contractors on works and the team has discussed the law and order issues.
The Assembly staff will reach here after October 15. When asked about handing over of the vacated Secretariat space and Assembly buildings in Hyderabad to the Telangana government, he said Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and the Cabinet would take a final call. The privileges committee is looking into the YSRC members’ alleged objectionable behaviour during the last sessions, the Speaker said.
Mr Ramakrishnudu said the government has requested Union finance minister Arun Jaitley to give one more month’s time for the state to ratify the GST bill.
Earlier, the finance minister conducted meetings with builders and cement manufacturers over the cement prices.
