Andhra Pradesh government plans to set up district delivery units

A district-level core coordination committee of the DDU, supported by young professionals from core sectors.

Hyderabad: With an aim to strengthen the district administration, the Andhra Pradesh government has decided to reorganise the present administrative structure and propose to set up District Delivery Unit (DDU) in every district.

According to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, as part of taking the state on high growth path, it is essential to reorganise macro-level administration and to strengthen the meso-level administration for effective implementation of programmes and overall development. As part of strengthening the revenue administration, the state government has decided to form new revenue mandals in the state.

The state government has proposed that the DDU will provide professional support to the district administration for realising the targets and goals of development programmes. Separate joint collectors will be appointed as the development in charge in each of the 13 districts under the district collector.

Officials from key departments like revenue, agriculture, horticulture, rural development, planning, welfare, urban development will constitute the district-level unit.

A district-level core coordination committee of the DDU, supported by young professionals from core sectors, will act for better coordination and monitoring for efficient delivery.
