Karimnagar: Father carries body in an auto

Not knowing what to do, Sampath Kumar carried the body of his daughter himself to the autorickshaw stand.

Karimnagar: An impoverished man carried the body of his daughter from the hospital to the autorickshaw stand to go home when the hospital staff would not provide him an ambulance. He was told there was no functioning ambulance service at the hospital.

Sampath Kumar of Kunaram in Kalva Srirampuram mandal of Peddapalli district admitted his seven-year-old daughter Komalatha in the Government Main Hospital in Karimnagar a few days ago as she was suffering from liver problems. Komalatha breathed last on Sunday afternoon in the hospital. The hospital staff put the body on a stretcher and handed it over to her father.

The distraught father requested the hospital staff to provide an ambulance to take the body to his native place in Peddapalli, but the staff, realising he had no money, told him that ambulance services are not functioning in the hospital.

Not knowing what to do, Sampath Kumar carried the body of his daughter himself to the autorickshaw stand. The inhumanity did not end there. The drivers he approached refused to transport the body.

Finally, one driver took pity on Sampath Kumar and took him to Peddapalli. The picture of Sampath Kumar carrying the body of his little daughter in his hands went viral.
