Hyderabad: While the city is in the grip of dengue, chikungunia is being reported in large numbers in Siddipet, according to health officials of the district.

A senior health official said, “We are having lots of cases of chikungunia and the numbers are very high. These are mostly being seen at the government centres.”

What this means is lack of proper sanitation and insufficient measures to control the mosquito menace in the state.

The spread of mosquitoes, which carry diseases such as dengue and chikungunia,  is one of the prime reasons for the rise in these vector-borne diseases and urgent measures are required to control the situation.
