Drunk man slits wrist before cops.

Chennai: An inebriated man who went to the Maduravoyal police station on Monday night to seek action against his former girlfriend, slit his wrist and attempted suicide on the station premises. The man allegedly told police that he wanted them to get back his Rs 3,000 that he has spent on her.

According to police, Vicky alias Kerri, a resident of Kandaswamy Nagar in Maduravoyal, a bike mechanic, was in a relationship with a girl in the area. On Monday night he went to the Maduravoyal police station drunk and told police that he wanted to file a complaint against his ex-lady love. The police asked the man to wait outside for a few minutes since he was drunk.

Vicky allegedly slit his hand and wrist with a blade he hid inside his pocket. Before police officers could stop him, he reportedly ran out of the premises and attempted suicide by trying to jump into a moving vehicle on the busy Poonamallee high road, opposite the police station.

However, the police officials rescued him and brought him to the station. The police covered the wound with a piece of cloth. During an inquiry, Vicky told police that his girlfriend had cheated him and he wanted to file a complaint against her. As he was drunk, the police asked him to come to the station later with a detailed complaint and advised him to go to the hospital to treat his wrist injury.
