Wheel comes off from running BMTC bus
The bus came to a screeching halt, while the big tyre was found on the premises of a nearby factory.

Bengaluru: Negligence by BMTC maintenance staff nearly cost commuters, pedestrians and nearby motorists their life last week. The right front wheel of a bus headed from Peenya to Kempegowda Bus Stand suddenly detached, while the bus was in motion.
A CCTV footage being circulated on social media shows the tyre rolling onto the main road, catching people off guard. The bus came to a screeching halt, while the big tyre was found on the premises of a nearby factory. Fortunately, no one in or near the bus was hurt.
“The incident occurred near Peenya Bus Depot at 9.16 am on August 26. It happened as the wheel bearing became loose, though it is a relatively new bus. When it broke down, mechanics from the adjacent Peenya depot came running to the spot and fixed it," said a BMTC official.
“This has never happened before. The mechanics fixed the tyre immediately and the bus was up and running. That's the reason the control room was not alerted. We are still looking into the cause behind the incident. Precautionary measures will be taken in the future," the official said.
As the accident occurred on a Saturday morning, there were few people on the road and there were no casualties.
