SIT conducts field visit to Kommadi area

The SIT has visited the disputed lands in the Kommadi area, where some people grabbed government lands by tampering land records.

Visakhapatnam: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has again launched field visits to get concrete leads into the tampering of land records at the Kommadi area in Vizag city.

For the first time, the SIT has taken the help of forest officials to identify government lands that were encroached by land sharks. A senior officer said they have found one shed on disputed land some survey numbers in the Kommadi region but no one was in the shed.

The SIT visited the disputed lands under Survey Numbers 36/2, 136/1, 77/2 and 369 in the Kommadi area and saw that some lands under these survey numbers were encroached. On the other end, the police arrested former Visakha Rural tahsildar Majji Shankara Rao in connection with the tampering of land records. In June, the ACB sleuths arrested Sankara Rao, for possessing disproportionate assets over his known sources of income. Though the net worth of the assets, including cash, gold, land holdings was put at Rs 1.22 crore, the value of the assets would easily be more than Rs 10 crore as per market rates.
