Rajendranagar: Man found electrocuted in well
Hyderabad: A businessman was found dead under suspicious circumstances in a well in Rajendranagar on Saturday. The deceased Mirza Nasir Ali, 35, was a resident of Old City. Police said Ali had gone to the well and was electrocuted.
Mirza Nasir Ali, a resident of Hussaini Alam, came to the well and asked its caretaker, Ms Afsara, for water. Afsara switched on the motor and told him to collect water from the tap. When he saw that water was not getting pumped out through the tap, he entered the well through the steps. But Afsara had not switched off the motor and he was not aware of it.
Ali entered the well carrying a small bucket to draw water directly, but suffered an electric shock, fell in the water and died.
The caretaker woman who saw his body in the well alerted the police. Police recovered the body and shifted it for autopsy.
“As the motor was not switched off, there was power supply which could have resulted in the electrocution. The injuries on his body also indicate the same. However, we are awaiting the autopsy report and based on that we will proceed,” said SI B. Shivaprasad of Rajendranagar police station.
Based on a complaint from his brother-in-law, Hassan Ali, the police registered a suspicious death case.
Meanwhile, Ali’s family said that he had left home on Saturday morning for Bakrid prayers but they were not aware why he went to the well.
Police handed over his body to the family after post mortem.
