No team work in KMC polls

Mr Rao said that the YSRC chief's language and lewd remarks against the CM in Nandyal byelection had hit the prospects of the party.

Kakinada: The YSR Congress suffered a huge electoral setback due to lack of coordination among its party leaders in the Kakinada Municipal Corporation polls. The party cadre is thoroughly demoralised after the massive defeat, as the party failed to address local problems.

The elections have exposed the lack of coordination among leaders. “Infighting between the leaders, lack of coordination among contesting candidates and other factors defeated the party in the KMC polls,” an YSRC leader said, in retrospection.

The party has appointed two coordinators - former MLA Dwarampudi Chandrasekhara Reddy and Mootha Sashidhar - for KMC polls. According to sources, Mr Sashihdar could not show his strength by winning their candidates in these elections, though he took the support of his father Mootha Gopalakrishna, a four-time MLA and also a former minister. Both coordinators failed to attract voters.

YSRC leaders said that the party leadership failed to capture voters' attention. Even as Kapunadu leader Mudragada Padmanabham is fighting against the government for the Kapu reservation the YSRC failed to cash on the sentiment and capture the Kapu votes bank.

“The party leadership grossly failed to capture around 50,000 Kapu votes in the city. Moreover, Kapus were not taken in key positions in the entire election campaign,” said Kapu Sadbhavana Sangham general secretary, Basava Prabhakara Rao.

Mr Rao said that the YSRC chief's language and lewd remarks against the CM in Nandyal byelection had hit the prospects of the party.

However, the party district president K. Kannababu said that misuse of power and overflow of money by the ruling party are the factors for YSRC's defeat in the KMC polls. YSRC leader G. Srinivas said that party leaders failed to stop the flow of money by the ruling party.
