Hyderabad: Teen ends life over mom's ire

Shiva, a resident of New Shivapuri colony, was studying Intermediate I year at a private college in Dilsukhnagar.

Hyderabad: The fear of being scolded by his mother for refusing to do a small errand made an Intermediate student commit suicide in LB Nagar. Police said the boy, G Shiva, hanged himself with a sari at home.

Shiva, a resident of New Shivapuri colony, was studying Intermediate I year at a private college in Dilsukhnagar. On Saturday evening while he was at home, his mother Durgamma gave him a letter and asked him to hand it over to her brother who was waiting on the main road. Shiva refused to give the letter to his uncle and told his mother to go herself and give the letter if it was very important. After an argument with his mother, he left home.

Later, his mother also locked the house and went to the nearby Ganesh Pandal for puja.

Meanwhile, Shiva came back home, broke the lock of the main door, entered the house and hanged himself.

His mother returned home after a couple of hours and found the lock was broken and the door was latched from inside. When there was no response even after repeated knocks she broke open the door with the help of neighbours and found Shiva hanging. They brought him down and rushed him to a nearby hospital but he was declared dead. Based on a complaint from his father Narsimha, an autorickshaw driver, police registered a suspicious death case and handed over the body to the family after autopsy.
