Don't hand over bison ground: V Hanumantha Rao
Hyderabad: Former Congress MP V. Hanumantha Rao in a letter to the defence minister has said Bison Polo Ground should not be handed over to the state government “just because” Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao asked for defence land to build the new Secretariat, when the existing Secretariat had place to run the administration.
In a letter to finance and defence minister Arun Jaitley on Sunday, Mr Hanumantha requested the minister to visit the place to know the ground reality in the interest of the common people before taking a decision on transferring the land to the state government.
He said the Bison Polo Ground was located in a thickly populated area with umpteen number of function halls, and witnesses traffic jams even on normal days. The Gymkhana Ground nearby caters to sportspersons. “One can imagine what will be the traffic situation if the Secretariat comes up there,” he wrote.
He said there was no need for another Secretariat when the old structure had space which was vacated by the AP government. He said Mr Chan-drasekhar Rao had stopped visiting the Secretariat three years ago.
