Ban lifted, pubs in fifth block Koramangala yet to get footfalls
Bengaluru: Though the ban on serving alcohol has been lifted from areas coming under municipal limits, pubs in Koramangala Block 5 are yet to draw crowds.
“It is not houseful, but we expect more people to come in the coming days. In this one month, most of the customers shifted to other areas where alcohol was available. We hope that the situation will improve in the coming weeks,” said Rashid Ahmed, a staffer at The Liquid Street.
When the ban was in force, which lasted for 55 days, most of the people shifted to watering holes at Koramangala Block 6, where pubs and bars did not face closure. Compared to Koramangala Block 5, pubs and bars at Central Business District are doing a roaring business.
Kishore of Church Street Social, which started serving alcohol from August 27, said that his pub was houseful on Friday.
One of the hostesses working at The Boozy Griffin at Koramangala Block 5 said that over 200 people came to the pub on Saturday. “We are getting crowds on weekends, but it is less compared to what we used to attract before the ban. Most of the regulars are back, and it will take some time for more crowds to come in,” she said.
