Row over B-category medical seats in NTR Health University

The controversy erupted with the decision of NTR Health University to allow students belonging to all states for counseling.

Vijayawada: Counseling for B-category medical seats is caught in controversy. Students from various states took part in the counseling which started on Saturday. However parents allege that NTR Health University which conducts medical counseling is not following rules and even the High Court’s order.

The controversy erupted with the decision of NTR Health University to allow students belonging to all states for counseling. Parents differ with this decision as it is against the interests of Telugu speaking students.

According to Mr. N V N Rao who filed a petition in the High Court, challenging the decision to allow students from across India, since Article 371D is still in force, the counseling should be conducted according to the presidential order.

To back his argument he stated that even in the Neet applications it is clearly mentioned and students sign forms opting out from the 15% non-local quota provided.

According to 371D only AP, TS and J&K students are eligible for counseling. But the NTRH University allowed students from pan India. Mr. Rao claims that this results in loss of medical seats to Telugu speaking students
