Nizamabad: Woman saves 3 people using her sari
NIZAMABAD: A-35-year-old woman saved three people including two children using her sari at the Sriramsagar Project Colony in Nizamabad district. The incident happened last Monday. Sources said Sonu, a boy, accidentally fell into the Kakatiya canal. Seeing this, Class X student Kunal jumped into the canal in vain to save him.
Passersby raised an alarm and Devidas, 50, a resident of Sriramsagar project colony, entered the waters of the canal to save the duo, but failed. People on the canal bund were unable to save the trio. Meanwhile, Chaya Bai, 35, of the same colony threw her sari into the canal to save the victims. With the help of the sari, all the three came out safely. Locals praised the bold move of Chaya Bai to save the victims.
Chaya Bai belongs to a family of Maharashtrian migrants. Her parents worked as labourers during the construction of the Sriramasagar project and settled here. Chaya Bai is living with her daughter in SRSP quarters. Speaking to DC, Chaya Bai said, “I became afraid seeing the force of the water in the Kakatiya canal but to save the three I threw my sari at them.”
