YSRC to Introduce Private Member's Bill for SCS, Polavaram Funds, Special Assistance
Vijayawada: YSRC MP Margani Bharat has said the party would introduce a private member's Bill in the Lok Sabha seeking Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh and further the Bill demanded special assistance to backward districts.
He said injustice being done to AP will be mentioned in the no-confidence motion. “I would introduce a private member's Bill to amend the AP Reorganisation Act,” he said.
Bharat stated, “We will talk about the injustice done to AP during the discussion on the no-confidence motion to be held in Parliament. We woul introduce the AP Reorganisation Amendment Bill-2023 as a private member's Bill with 10 MPs.”
He said, “The private member's Bill related to the bifurcation guarantees was previously introduced in the Rajya Sabha by our parliamentary leader V. Vijayasai Reddy. However, as the Bill is related to finance, it was suggested that it be introduced in the Lok Sabha. This Bill will put a lot of pressure on the Centre.”
Referring to the AP Reorganisation Act, Bharat said, “Seven backward districts were previously funded at the rate of '50 crore per district. We would demand a special package to the respective districts based on their per capita income. There is a possibility of getting '1,000 crore for each district. We will also demand inclusion of Waltair Railway Division and South Coastal Railway Zone.”
The YSRC, he said, is planning to introduce another Bill on approval of Polavaram Revised Estimates. Its leader in Lok Sabha, P. Mithun Reddy, would introduce a private member's Bill on Polavaram, seeking approval of '55,548 crore as per the revised estimates for the project.
The MP said, “The issue of Manipur is very sad. This should be discussed. Discussion on this will start from August 8. We would propose steps to avoid a repeat of what happened in Manipur. The National Capital Amendment Bill is unique. Hence, the YSRC supported the idea that law and order and executive powers should be in the hands of the central government in a special province like Delhi. In this case, the Telugu Desam is acting like a cat on the wall without stating their stand.”
