Kochi: IMD yellow alert for two districts

There will be widespread rain on Wednesday across the state with orange alert sounded in six districts.

KOCHI: The Indian Metereological Department (IMD) has sounded a yellow alert for Kannur and Kasargod on Sunday indicating isolated heavy rain in these districts. The other districts will only have light to moderate rain while on Monday, Kozhikode too was brought under yellow alert.

Rest of the districts will get light to moderate rain in the day. Two districts were brought under orange alrert by the IMD on Tuesday with isolated heavy rain to very heavy rain. They are Kozhikode and Kannur. Yellow alert was sounded at Laksha-dweep, Kasargod, Wayanad, Malappuram, Idukki and Pathanamthitta.

“A Bay of Bengal system is now coming as a remnant system from Western North Pacific crossing Vietnam and Myanmar. Central, North Eastern and West Coast region including Kerala will get some rain out of this,” said a weather scientist in Kochi.
