Hyderabad: Sarpanches told to get villages cleaned

The sarpanches and staff will ensure removal of garbage and debris, take up cleaning of drains and identify lands for the construction of graveyards.

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao on Saturday announced a 20-day action plan for the gram panchayats to make the villages clean and green.

After reviewing the plan with senior officers and representatives of the Sarpanches Association at Pragathi Bhavan, Mr Rao told officers to take steps to appoint the district, divisional and mandal panchayat officers. Mr Rao told the officers to communicate the action plan to all sarpanches.

As per the plan, the sarpanches and staff will ensure removal of garbage and debris, take up cleaning of drains and identify lands for the construction of graveyards. Officers have to identify land for the construction of community halls and village storages. Officers have to prepare annual and five-year plans with the consultation of locals under ‘Plan Your Village’ scheme. Officers will have to undertake power week programme to sort out electricity problems.

According to the plan, officials have to take up tree plantation extensively under Haritha Haram and establish a nursery in every village.
