Coimbatore: Man cons women with foreign jobs, marriage; held

Armed with all these details, Revathi called Jithin over the phone to verify the veracity about what she heard.

Coimbatore: A 35-year-old Kerala-based man was held for duping several girls promising them marriage and jobs overseas.

According to police, Revathi (34), resident of Koviapudhur, owned a garments outlet. Following a dispute with her husband, Revathi got divorced and was living alone for the past few years.

Revathi befriended one Jithin Sha (35) from Azhapuzha in Kerala. The two were classmates 15 years back, studying engineering together in a private college at Namakkal. The duo renewed their friendship after Jithin sent a friend request to Revathi last year through social media. Jithin had subsequently proposed to marry Revathy claiming that he was still a bachelor.

Trusting him, Revathi took Jithin as her live-in partner. Slowly, Jithin laid a trap for Revathi's money and received ` seven lakh, along with her credit card promising Revathi an overseas job along with a new life with him. He also promised to return the money over a period of time, if nothing worked out as expected.

Meanwhile, Revathi received a phone call from USA on July 14 from a woman on the other end claiming herself as Chinnu Jacob, wife of Jithin Sha. She also allegedly told Revathi that Jithin had been duping several women in the name of marriage and looted their money. Chinnu had also told Revathi that she had left Jithin, because of his poor character.

Armed with all these details, Revathi called Jithin over the phone to verify the veracity about what she heard. Jithin accepted the truth, and came down to Coimbatore on July 28. He threatened to kill Revathi if she asked for the money.

Based on a complaint lodged by Revathi with the Kuniyamuthoor police, officials laid a trap for Jithin through one of Revathi's friend asking him to come down for talks, upon which Jithin came down to Coimbatore a few days ago, and was caught red-handed.

Jithin is said to have had duped more than 20 girls, and was about to settle in the middle-east with a huge amount of money, added the police. Further investigations are on.
