Bhadrachalam: Pregnant women shifted to hospital

The decision was taken by collector Rajat Kumar Shalini as the villages will get cut-off when the water level increases.

Bhadrachalam: As a precautionary measure, pregnant women in their third trimester residing in flood-prone habitations are being shifted to the government hospital in Bhadrachalam, with the water levels in the Godavari expected to cross the second warning level of 48 feet.

The decision was taken by collector Rajat Kumar Shalini as the villages will get cut-off when the water level increases. The Godavari was running at 46.6 feet at Bhadrachalam at 7 pm on Saturday night, having crossed the first warning level at 43 feet.

The road connectivity to 15 habitations in Aswapuram, Allapalli, Guadala and Pinapaka mandals were cut off. The water flow in the Godavari tributaries Sabari and Taliperu reduced on Saturday, but the river got more water from the Kaleswaram area via the Pranahita and the Indravati. The Narachirala Pradesam at Parnasala is still under flood waters.
