Hyderabad: 88 cases booked against cinemas as raids continue

The department officials are now gearing up for round three of special checks starting on 4th and 5th of August.

Hyderabad: Over 200 complaints from consumers against multiplexes in the city resulted in yet another fierce day of special checks conducted by the Legal Metrology Department. A total of 88 cases were booked against cinema halls and theatres in greater Hyderabad and HMDA zone. Big cinema halls like PVR, INOX, Big Cinema, Cinepolis and IMAX continued have cases booked against them for failing to follow regulations set forth by the department. Meanwhile, PVR LTD is already challenging their cases and Justice Ms. Ramachandra Rao is set to give a judgment of the same on August 7.

Police investigated billing machines, coffee machines and unpackaged eateries to ensure that all items were marked, packed and sold in compliance with the open market prices. The department officials are now gearing up for round three of special checks starting on 4th and 5th of August.

These checks will complete a state wide radius of all cinema halls and theatres.

Officials have said that this will not be the last of the checks and unannounced checks will follow.
