Asaduddin Owaisi pushes two new bills in Parliament

He argued that Seemanchal was the most backward region in our country with the lowest Human Development Index.

Hyderabad: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Friday introduced two separate bills which were admitted with voice vote. In the Private Members Bill, the Hyderabad MP suggested that the minimum age for candidates to contest elections be brought down to 18 years from 25 years.

He said that 65 per cent of the country's population was below 35 years of age and it was necessary on part of the government to bring down the qualifying age. The AIMIM president also introduced another bill which sought establishment of a regional development council for Seemanchal region under Article 371 K. He argued that Seemanchal was the most backward region in our country with the lowest Human Development Index.
