Hyderabad: Mr Sadiq Hussain, ex-assistant registrar of the University of Hyderabad, has claimed that he was removed from service for questioning ‘corruption’. He alleged that the university had hired five foreign nationals as faculty and falsely claimed that they were Indian nationals. He alleged: “I was suspended from service when I filed an RTI regarding many issues in the university. However, this is a matter of grave concern. Foreign nationals from Australia and US have obtained permanent jobs.” He said his request for police verification was ignored.
The university said Mr Hussain was removed from his position for producing fraudulent certificates about his educational qualifications. Official spokesperson Vinod Paverala said, “These faculty members have an OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) card. They are not of foreign nationality and OCI card holders are denied the right to vote and have agricultural land but can be faculty members. We have already sent a letter to the MHRD.”
