Tamil Nadu: Teachers under scanner for errors in Plus-2 evaluations

Of 4,000 answer scripts for which students sought revaluation, 1,500 answer sheets had fewer marks.

CHENNAI: Following the changes in marks to over 2,000 answer scripts after revaluation this year, the directorate of government examinations has decided to call around a thousand teachers who had made errors while evaluating the plus 2 answer scripts for an enquiry.

Of 4,000 answer scripts for which students sought revaluation, 1,500 answer sheets had fewer marks. Meanwhile, 500 answer scripts had an upward revision of marks. All the officials who handled the answersheets, including the assistant examiner, scrutiny officer and chief examiner will have to explain the errors. A student who got 200 out of 200 in Accountancy was awarded only 140 marks due to the error while totalling. The student later got full marks after the re-totalling. “A team of three teachers has revaluated the papers. Many teachers have awarded marks without following the answer keys in the important subjects. That’s why many students who have applied for revaluation have got fewer marks ,” teachers said.

The directorate of government examinations had received over 99,000 applications requesting a copy of answer scripts and after seeing them over 4,000 students have applied for revaluation.
