Secunderabad: Woman delivers in auto
Hyderabad: Bystanders at Gandhi Hospital were shocked to see a woman giving birth inside an autorickshaw outside the labour ward on Thursday.
A 28-year-old Usha from Attaguda in Secunderabad was forced to deliver inside an autorickshaw in a broad daylight. Bystanders alleged that no hospital authorities came forward to help her.
Srinivas Yadav, a witness to the incident, said, “I happened to be at the hospital as I was visiting a friend. I saw the woman crying in pain. No doctors and medical staff came forward to look after the patient and the new-born baby boy. The medial attendants kept asking for money to take the woman on a stretcher.”
Dr. Sharat Kumar, superintendent of Gandhi Hospital, said, “Since delivery took place outside the gates of the hospital how could our doctors help the patient? We admitted the mother and the baby post delivery and gave all the necessary medical assistance.”
The mother and the baby are reported to be safe now.
