Jagan Mohan Reddy sounds poll bugle from Nandyal

2019 general elections would be Kurukshetra maha sangramam: Jagan.

KURNOOL: Terming 2019 general elections ‘Kurukshetra Maha Sangramam’, YSRC president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday sounded the poll bugle and called upon Nandyal to play a pivotal role in clinching the war against the ‘corrupt regime’ of N. Chandrababu Naidu. Addressing a mammoth public rally at SPG grounds here, Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy was found to be at his rhetorical best. Drawing liberal comparisons from the Mahabharata, he asked the people to play the role of Sri Krishna and use their index finger as Sudarshana Chakra for pressing the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) button to decimate TD Kauravas.

Jagan’s speech was laced with anecdotes from holy scriptures. Calling Chandrababu Naidu a “back stabber”. Mr Jagan said while Satya Harishchandra was known for his honesty, Chandrababu Naidu is the personification of ‘lies and falsehood’. He said he has a grand vision for the development of Nandyal town. His priority would be to declare it district headquarters and develop it as model town. He said every parliamentary constituency in AP would be declared as district headquarters and then the number of districts will go up to 25 from 13 districts now.

Unveiling his Navaratnalu scheme, he said it would be applicable to all, irrespective of religion, and that work would begin from Nandyal. His other promises included free house for every poor person along with registration documents. He said the CM had promised the people that he would work for them, but he had done nothing to fulfill those promises. “He promised airport, smart city, Urdu university, and textile parks, cement production hub, IIIT, nuclear fuel complex, world-class super specialty hospital, railway wagon repair centre and food park for Kurnool. After three years of rule, he has not fulfilled even a single promise,” he said.

He also drew comparisons between the Rajasekhar Reddy government and Chandrababu government and said while the former was considered a ‘benevolent government’ with reservations to Muslims and fee reimbursement scheme, the Naidu rule is ‘a destitute rule’. Raising hopes among the people of Nandyal, he said Chandrababu Naidu talked of development in Nandyal only after the YSRC said it was contesting the election. Had it gone unanimous, Chandrababu Naidu would not have looked at Nandyal, he added. He gave an assurance to the victims of Keshava Reddy and Agri Gold scam that their claims will be honoured within three months after he becomes the chief minister.
