Hyderabad: Probe into misconduct by ACP
Hyderabad: Hyderabad police commissioner M. Mahender Reddy ordered an inquiry into the misbehaviour of the Punjagutta ACP with media persons near Pragati Bhavan on Thursday.
On Thursday contract health workers came to Pragathi Bhavan to meet the Chief Minister to present their demand for regularisation. However, as they had no permission to meet the CM they were denied entry and that led to a scuffle.
Meanwhile, some reporters who came to cover the event tried to take the police version and approached Punjagutta ACP M. Venkateshwarlu who behaved rudely with them and also pushed aside a woman reporter. The video of the incident went viral.
After the incident a complaint was filed at the Punjagutta police station and Journalist Unions also met DGP Anurag Sharma and submitted a representation demanding action against the ACP. The DGP responded to the petition and directed the Hyderabad police commissioner to look into the matter.
“The commissioner ordered the West Zone DCP to inquire into the incident and submit a report,” an official release said.
Meanwhile, the police also detained 70 health workers who were protesting and shifted them to Goshamahal. They were released in the evening.
