Kollam: An investigation team along with the internal security wing from Kollam on Tuesday visited the Mysore court complex where a bomb blast had occurred in the washroom on Monday.
The team suspects that the blasts that had occurred recently in the court complexes in Kollam, Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh and Mysore were the handiwork of a splinter group based in South India as the modus operandi was the same in all the cases.
“The team will conduct an investigation in coordination with an investigation team from Hyderabad. The pieces of evidence are being collected to verify whether the three blasts were organised by the same group,” Mr Rex Bobby Aravin, Special Branch ACP, told DC. The blast in Mysore was the latest in the series after those in Chittoor and Kollam. The team is also looking into the intention behind the blasts in the court complexes.
An improvised electronic device (IED) set up in a pressure cooker had exploded near the washroom of the court complex in Mysore. The blast at Chittoor occurred on April 7 and at the Kollam court complex on June 14.
The investigation team had earlier found that the batteries and the circuit boards used for the blast in Kollam were of the same series used at Chittoor and were purchased from Secunderabad.
An IED device prepared using a steel tiffin box had exploded at the parking area of the court complex in the Kollam collectorate leaving a person injured.
