Mangaluru Schools and Colleges Declare Holiday Over Heavy Rains
Mangaluru: Following heavy rainfall in the Dakshina Kannada district's Mangaluru subdivision, Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan has declared a holiday for schools and colleges on Tuesday in Mangaluru, Mulki, Ullal, Moodbidri, and Bantwal Taluks.
The decision comes following intense rainfall in the Mangaluru sub-division of Dakshina Kannada over the past 24 hours. Few low lying areas including the Mahaveera Circle were flooded on Monday. The meteorological department has also issued an orange alert for the region.
Taking necessary precautions, the Deputy Commissioner issued the order on Tuesday morning.
In light of the situation, the Deputy Commissioner urged parents to ensure that their wards refrain from venturing into low-lying areas, riverbanks, or seashores. Fishermen have received advice to refrain from venturing into the sea during this time.
To maintain preparedness, nodal officers have been directed to maintain a state of alertness, while district-level and taluk-level officials are required to be present at their headquarters.
