Visakhapatnam: As part of the Sea Harrier Museum works, the state government has invited tenders for retrofitting the Rajiv Smruthi Bhavan.
The Visakhapatnam Metro Region Developm-ent Authority (VMRDA), adding to the existing tourist attractions INS Kurusura Submarine and TU-142 aircraft museum, is developing another attraction, Sea Harrier Museum at the Rajiv Smruthi Bhavan on the beachfront.
The VMRDA has decided to develop an integrated tourist centre by clubbing the present INS Kurusura, the submarine museum, TU-142 war flight museum, biggest underground parking area and Sea Harrier aircraft museum. The Sea Harrier aircraft was decommissioned in 2016 and the flight was already reached to the beach road. The VMRDA is developing the museum in the Rajiv Smruthi Bhavan.
In order to promote the new project, the government has invited tenders as a part of the retrofitting the Rajiv Smruthi Bhavan, said Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation chief G. Srujana on Wednesday.
She emphasised that the Rajiv Smruthi Bhavan was not being demolished and made it clear tha the work was limited to rem-oval of the rooftop and other retrofitting works.
The proposed integrated museum which will be un-dertaken by the VMRDA and the AP Tourism, is estimated to cost Rs 80 crore.
