KOMARAM BHEEM, ASIFABAD: The Kagaznagar police arrested Congress leader Palvai Harish Rao who was planning to go to Kotha Sarasala where a forest range officer Chole Anitha was beaten up by TRS leaders. The Kagaznagar police shifted him to Kerameri police station on Wednesday. The police also arrested former CPI flood leader Gunda Mallesh and shifted him to Kerameri police station.
CPM leaders Thammineni Veerabadram and Koonamneni Sambashivarao were also arrested at Mancherial while they were trying to proceed to Sarasala. Kagaznagar police officials told Mr Palvai Harish Rao that they were taking him into preventive custody with the information that he was likely to visit Sarasala and they wanted to avert any law and order problem there.
Mr Rao criticising the cops who took him into preventive custody, said that they had double standards and questioned why the police present at Sarasala had not prevented Koneru Krishna from beating the forest range officer. Mr Rao was planning to visit Kotha Sarasala after the visit of a Congress party fact-finding team comprising of MLAs, that proposed to go to Kotha Sarasala to know the ground reality and assess the situation as far as Podu cultivation and Kotha Sarasala incident was concerned.
