Implement Podu land law: Congress
Hyderabad: TPCC vice-president Mallu Ravi demanded of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao that land rights and pattas should be given to tribals who were cultivating Podu lands in agency areas.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Mallu Ravi said that the UPA government had brought in an act to this effect. He said that the state government was creating problems without implementing this act. He alleged that after the incidents in Adilabad and Khammam erstwhile districts, the CM did not concentrate on the issue of Podu lands and even did not hold a review meeting with
officials.
He alleged that the state government was trying to show up the incidents of attack on forest officials as a major one to sideline the Podu lands issue. He added that Podu lands were the lifeline of tribals and the government should not be neglecting this issue.
TPCC vice-president Mallu Ravi criticised the BJP that it was making Goebbels-kind propaganda that leaders from other parties were joining up.
Mr Ravi commented that the BJP had no leaders and depended only on Congress leader’s
migration.
He said that the BJP was not bringing pressure on CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao for the implementation of election assurances and was pressurising leaders on changing the party.
He added that the BJP could never become as alternative to the TRS and in Telangana state, the BJP had no strength.
