Hyderabad: Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have agreed on using telemetry for measuring water contributions from various tributaries in phase-1 and review it later. Recently, both the Telugu states had agreed to measure the water drawing levels in the river Krishna. Both the states have also agreed to get their annual accounts audited by a Chartered Accountant firm empanelled by the CAG.
Representatives from Telangana and AP participated in the seventh meeting of the Godavari River Management Board (GRMB) held at Jala Soudha here on Tuesday. They agreed to furnish detailed project reports (DPRs) to the GRMB.
The GRMB meeting approved the proposal for the installation of a telemetry system in the Godavari basin in both the states. The Board had accorded in-principle approval to the proposal in the sixth meeting held in December 2017.
Members had proposed that a three-member committee, comprising one member each from both the states and one from the GRMB, would be constituted. The telemetry equipment would be installed as per the report submitted to the GRMB on the technical specifications for the system. The GRMB office would frame the estimate and the tender documents for the work soon.
The AP government has also agreed to deposit the balance amount of the budgetary fund of Rs 319.62 lakh for FY19. In the meeting, the GRMB presented the draft GRMB Absorption Rules-2018 for discussion. After a brief deliberation, both the states agreed to further examine the issue through their respective departments. The meeting unanimously agreed that nodal officers and project authorities shall access the requisite data and website of the GRMB.
