'Nehru Zoological Park' 22-year-old panther is critically ill
Hyderbad: A 22-year-old female panther Deepa of the Nehru Zoological Park, which is suffering from bronchitis, lies in a critical condition, the officials of the zoo said.
The feline is reported to be getting weaker day by day and is undergoing through treatment in intensive care under the supervision of zoo veterinarians and other veterinary experts.
According to the zoo officials, the life of panthers in captivity is usually 10 to 18 years in the wild. With age, Deepa is developing complications and is not responding to the treatment. She is currently under observation.
Health of a couple of other animals of the NZP has also been deteriorating. In June alone, the zoo reported two deaths death of a 44-year-old female elephant named Jamuna and a 15-year-old asiatic lion named Crazy.
Jamuna was suffering from a prolonged illness and succumbed to respiratory infection and enemiasis while Crazy was under treatment since May 19.
