LB Nagar work misses deadline
Hyderabad: Flyover and underpass works under the Strategic Road Development Plan at LB Nagar Junction has been moving at a snail’s pace.
Officials claim that the line departments including traffic police have not been co-operating with the GHMC.
They claim that the water board and electricity departments have not been shifting water and sewer lines, and electricity department has not been shifting utilities, even after several representations were made to the departments. While the flyover and underpass work continues to get delayed, the traffic police has to divert the traffic to alternative roads, creating further chaos in the city.
According to a GHMC official, under the SRDP, the flyover near the Kamineni Hospital had to be completed by June. The Kamineni left hand side flyover was expected to be completed by June while the Kamineni right hand side flyover is expected to be completed by March next year.
However, due to lack of co-ordination between the line departments, the flyover and underpass construction with a budget of Rs 42.74 crore will be delayed by at least six months.
A senior GHMC official said that since the Chintalkunta underpass did not have any hurdles the corporation had managed to complete its construction on time. He said that the corporation had undertaken the underpass project covering 540 metres long to ease traffic congestion at the ever-busy LB Nagar Circle towards Vijayawada.
He said many pre-fabricated structures were used in the construction of the underpass to ensure the works were completed on time.
