Hyderabad: Techies dream of new road becomes real

The techies planned to stage a bullock cart protest on June7.

Hyderabad: Nearly two months after techies at KPHB staged a protest demanding proper road by renaming it to KTR-IT-Park-Road, residents finally heaved a sigh of relief as they got a new road before rains hit the city.

Fearing a repeat of last year, when monsoon rains left the road unusable, the techies on May 8 put up several banners at the unkempt KPHB-Hafeezpet road near Mahindra Ashvita, calling it ‘KTR-IT-Park-Road’ with a caution: ‘Safety at your risk’.

Despite this move, the civic body failed to start work on the road even after a month, and the techies planned to stage a bullock cart protest on June7. This prompted the civic body into action and the work on the road was about to be completed with another layering of bitumen remaining as on Tuesday. Meanwhile, water works has again started work on a section of the road.
