Government school refurbished in Devanahalli

The project was under as part of corporate social responsibility programme by two companies.

BENGALURU: As the students of Government Girls Higher Primary School, Devanahalli entered the campus on Tuesday they were elated to see their school has got a much-needed facelift. They had new classrooms, science labs, a multipurpose hall and separate toilet block. The renovated premises was inaugurated by As Amit Kalra, Head Global Services Bangalore and Managing Director, Swiss Re Global Business Solutions and Jitu Virwani, Chairman and Managing Director, Embassy Group.

The two organisations and Bangalore North Round Table had collectively undertaken the renovation work, which was completed in seven months at a cost of Rs 1.5 crore. The project was under as part of corporate social responsibility programme by two companies. Last year in collaboration with Kitab Korner, Swiss Re had set up a library and a reading programme at the school. With the planned construction complete, both partners will work together to provide holistic and innovative educational programme, which will benefit 260 students enrolled at the school, officials said.

“We have committed ourselves to build a sustainable eco-system and actively contribute to the social and economic development of the communities where we operate,” said Mr Virwani. Kalra asserted that the project was undertaken with a vision of a long-term and meaningful engagement to positively impact society.” While we were consolidating our CSR efforts towards empowerment through holistic education, we wanted to join hands with the right organisations that can bring their strengths to fulfill our aspiration,” he said.
