Erode student tops BVSc rank list at Tanuvas

Tanuvas to conduct counselling in fourth week of July.

Chennai: P. Srikarthika of Erode district, who did not have resources to prepare for the Neet, has topped the BVSc and AH rank list released by Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (Tanuvas) on Tuesday. “I wanted to become a doctor. But I could not prepare for Neet as the schools which provide neet coaching here were charging around Rs 2.5 lakhs per year. I could not afford the fees,” Srikarthiga said.

She did not appear for Neet this year.

She studied at Vignana Bharathi Junior College in Chirala in Prakasam district. She got 985 out of 1000 marks in Andhra Pradesh Board of Intermediate Education and her cut-off is 199.67 marks.

“I will join BVSc at Madras Veterinary College,” she said. Her father Palanisamy is from Kodimudi taluk in Erode district. Apart from farming in Erode, he also sells textiles at Prakasam district in Andhra Pradesh.

V. Rajini Ragu the second rank holder got MBBS admission on Tuesday. He got 396 out of 720 marks in Neet.Releasing the rank list, Tanuvas Vice-Chancellor C.Balachandran said, “The university is likely to conduct the counselling in the last week of July. The dates will be announced in a day or two.”The university has received 10,284 applications for 306 BVSc seats and 2,107 applications for 94 B.Tech seats.

Among the qualified candidates, 54 per cent of them are girls and 43.12 per cent are first graduates. This year 74 per cent of students are from rural background.
