Against the national per capita power consumption of 1,010 KW, the figure stood at 1,394 KW in the state, he said.
The trial run found that there is peak demand for power in the morning when majority of the farmers switch on their pumpsets.
Hyderabad: Dr D. Prabhakar Rao, TS Transco and Genco chairman and managing director, said the per capita power consumption in TS had crossed the national average. This was one of the global growth indicators, he said.

TS has an annual capacity of 48,000 million units. In the next three years, power consumption was expected to 1,00,000 million units, when the per capita power consumption would rise to 1,700 KW. Despite the increase in demand, TS would become power surplus by 2020. He was speaking to 2016 batch IAS officers allotted to TS who were visiting power houses. He said TS had overcome a power crunch three years ago.
