Hyderabad: Ex-judge wants fee report
Hyderabad: Former High Court judge Justice B. Chandra Kumar, chairman of the social justice Joint Action Committee, said work of the Prof. Tirupati Rao committee on fee regulation was being stretched.
He said parents were being forced to admit their children in private schools due to lack of facilities in government schools, and are being charged exorbitant fees and donations.
He said the Prof. Tirupati Rao committee was constituted in March and asked to submit its report within a month. More than three months later, the committee has asked for fee details of schools for the last three years. The government has asked schools to furnish these details.
“This shows that the committee is an eyewash as this process will take another six months. The fee for the 2017-18 academic year has already been paid. The committee has also not even visited any school till now,” he said.
He said constructing new buildings for government schools would not be enough, the administration has to ensure that these schools have teachers and facilities. He was speaking at a discussion conducted by Social Justice Joint Action Committee.
Mr T.V. Ramanarsaiah, general secretary of the Social Justice JAC, said parents could give the fee data and there was no need to approach schools. “This is a delaying tactic,” he said.
