Bengaluru: Outside ban areas, pubs do roaring business
Bak Bak Bar near Sony Signal at Koramangala 6th Block saw a big rush on Sunday.

Bengaluru: Despite the dry spell at 360 liquor shops and 18 pubs at the Central Business District and Koramangala 5th Block, the owners of pubs and bars at Kormanagala 6th Block are raising their glasses in toast as their outlets do not fall under the ambit of the ban and are doing roaring business.
Bak Bak Bar near Sony Signal at Koramangala 6th Block saw a big rush on Sunday and the revellers said that the throng is because of closure of pubs and bars in CBD.
“I was a regular at Pecos on MG Road. After the ban, I needed a place to hang out. More than half of my colleagues hit this pub on Sunday night,” said Mr Abhijeet Prakash, who works as a project manager at a private firm.
Not only pubs, but cab aggregators too are facing the heat of the ban. Mr Srinivas, manager, Pecos Pub, said that earlier, pubs had a tie-up with Ola and Uber, which offered discounts to customers taking the ride. But after the ban, there is a sharp decline in the number of cabs and autorickshaw plying in the area.
“We used to earn a lot in the night, but the ban has robbed us of our profits. The rush on MG Road used to be for liquor outlets, and now you can see the dead look of the street,” Abdul Pasha, an Ola driver, said.
